e me ne vado prima che sia lui a lasciarmi iN asso;

serva currens venuta a rubare consapevolezza,

rinasco sempre nuova, araba Felice,

Sono una che cambia la trama,

una pessima attrice.

ENGLISH

I don't belong on this stage.

I am Prometheus, asking humans for fire (* to light a cigarette) only to start a conversation.

As I weave the thread of the Fates, I investigate the mechanism of the sewing spool rather than worry about the two ends of destiny.

Arachne, from the center of my web, I bring drinks to the guests I don't want to hurt.

I am Echo, chasing Narcissus, yes, but only to mock his voice.

Pandora, repurposing the gifts she is forbidden to open.

A Siren, singing lullabies because she has got insomnia.

Eurydice, provoking the impatience of her Orpheus.
- my love, how does this eyeshadow look on me?

I had Medea's passion, but the children of my heart died on their own, without my revenge.

I am Ariadne in the labyrinth, I know the way, but I throw the ball of yarn to Theseus - take it, play!
...and I leave before he leaves me in the lurch. (*The Italian expression "lasciare in asso"/leave in the lurch, comes from this myth and a wrong separation of words as it was originally "lasciare in Nasso", the Island)

I'd much rather quench my fury by raising cups with Bacchus than smell like Dido.

I'm a Calypso who doesn't want to hold anyone back by offering the weight of her immortality,

and I talk about my troubles at dinner better than Ulysses, openly, without feminine tears, only when strictly requested.

I'm Cassandra, who already knows everything and tries to forget, reassuring the unbelieving with feigned lightheartedness... a prophetess who no longer knows what these things others call tragedies are.

Meanwhile, she's within one of them.

I am the Pythia who delivers the truth through oracles, to spare others the embarrassment of the mirror.

I am Penelope who doesn't recognize her husband from the bed, and has chosen the youngest of the suitors, because at least he eats at home and shaves, or perhaps out of spite.

I am Iphigenia who flees before the sacrifice, to save her life, who warily guards against the word "family".

I am an Antigone who shakes her head at the gates of Thebes, and doesn't believe that burial honors a life; that true mercy lies in sparing us from war.

I am not a heroine; I assume roles for convenience.

A servant (* in the text serva currens, a typical theatre character) who comes into the Palace to steal awareness.

I am always reborn anew, an Araba Felice (=Fenix, playing with the word for Happy)

I am a plot-changer.
A terrible actress.
